During a recent session of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), the Attorney General’s Office of BiH was tasked with providing a proposal for resolving legal issues in the case involving Viaduct d.o.o. Portoroz, Vladimir Zevnik, and Boris Goljevscek against BiH regarding the execution of the ISCID Committee’s decision. This proposal will aim to minimize the impact on BiH’s budget and outline steps to meet obligations from a previous agreement with the Government of Republika Srpska (RS).
Additionally, the Attorney General’s Office of BiH was requested to address other arbitration cases against BiH, including one involving Pramod Mittal and others regarding an investment in Global Ispat Koksna Industrija (GIKIL) d.o.o. Lukavac. The session emphasized the AG’s responsibility to protect BiH’s property interests.
Notably, the Arbitration Council in London recently ruled against RS’s request to annul a decision in favor of Viaduct, requiring BiH to pay 90 million BAM in compensation. The dispute stems from a hydroelectric power plant contract signed in 2004, highlighting the complexities of international arbitration.
As BiH navigates these legal challenges, the role of the Attorney General’s Office remains crucial in safeguarding the country’s interests and upholding agreements with international partners.
