Bolivian authorities arrest 21 in connection with failed coup
A total of 21 individuals, including both military and civilians, have been arrested in connection with a failed coup attempt against President Luis Arce Catacora’s administration. Former Air Force Chief General Marcelo Javier Zegarra Gutiérrez, who was initially praised by Arce for distancing himself from the rebels, is among the detainees. Four additional individuals have been apprehended, bringing the total to 21. The coup was orchestrated through meetings involving military and civilian personnel, with Aníbal Aguilar Gómez and Juan Mario Paulsen also being arrested.
Furthermore, key leaders of the coup have been identified, and investigations reveal a coordinated effort involving communication through the FaceTime application. The uprising led to civilian injuries, prompting the arrest of individuals responsible for the violent actions. The involvement of multiple parties in the coup attempt signifies a larger criminal organization at play.
