Vienna has been crowned the world’s most liveable city for the third consecutive year, according to The Economist’s latest survey. Dublin, on the other hand, fell to 39th place from 32nd, marking one of the biggest drops among countries.
The Austrian capital topped the list again, with Copenhagen and Zurich following closely behind. Melbourne in Australia and Calgary in Canada completed the top five in the EIU Global Liveability Index.
The report highlights Western Europe as the most liveable region, despite a decline in stability scores due to protests and crime. Issues such as far-right extremism and anti-immigration policies also affected rankings.
Vienna scored high in stability, healthcare, education, and infrastructure. Overall global liveability improved slightly, but challenges like geopolitical conflicts, civil unrest, and housing crises persist.
War-torn Damascus and conflict-ridden Kyiv ranked among the least liveable cities. The index evaluates 173 cities based on stability, healthcare, culture, education, and infrastructure.
Vienna’s consistent top ranking reflects its exceptional liveability, making it a desirable place to call home for residents and visitors alike.
