The World’s Most Liveable City: Vienna Holds the Top Spot
Vienna has yet again been named the world’s most liveable city for the third consecutive year, according to a recent survey by the Economist. On the other hand, Dublin has slipped seven places to 39th in the rankings.
Despite Dublin’s drop in rankings, Vienna has maintained its top position, followed by Copenhagen and Zurich. Melbourne and Calgary rounded out the top five cities in the Economist Intelligence Unit’s Global Liveability Index.
The report noted that while Western Europe remains the most liveable region, there has been a decline in stability scores due to disruptive protests and crime. Issues such as far-right extremism and immigration policies have also affected liveability. Vienna received top scores in stability, healthcare, education, and infrastructure.
Although global liveability has seen a slight improvement, factors like geopolitical conflicts, civil unrest, and housing crises continue to impact cities worldwide. The report predicts that the stress on liveability is unlikely to ease in the near future.
Overall, Vienna’s consistent ranking as the most liveable city highlights its exceptional quality of life and infrastructure, making it a top choice for residents and visitors alike.
