In May, the Wall Street Journal reported that the US administration had postponed the transfer of thousands of precision-guided weapons to Israel.
The United States has provided $6.5 billion in security assistance to Israel since the beginning of the war on Gaza, with a recent aid package of nearly $3 billion approved in May. This aid was disclosed by a senior administration official during discussions with a visiting Israeli delegation led by Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. The US had reportedly delayed the transfer of precision-guided weapons to Israel amid political pressure.
Gallant highlighted progress in addressing supply issues and bottlenecks during the visit, emphasizing the importance of US support for Israel’s security. Despite concerns over civilian casualties, the US remains committed to providing arms to Israel, which is currently facing trial for alleged genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.
The ongoing conflict has resulted in a humanitarian crisis, with thousands of Palestinians killed, wounded, and displaced. The situation remains dire, with urgent international attention needed to address the escalating violence and suffering in the region.
