Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya and German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser recently met in Berlin to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation. The focus of the meeting was on combating terrorism, organized crime, and enhancing security measures. They also discussed increasing efforts to combat migrant smuggling.
Another topic of discussion was the new German citizenship law, which now allows immigrants to hold dual citizenship or multiple nationalities. This was a significant development for many non-EU immigrants.
Additionally, the ministers talked about improving the visa process for Turkish citizens visiting Germany and the application procedures for the new citizenship law. Both parties emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation and communication at the working level between their ministries.
