Russian Court Sentences US Mercenary Ellerbroek in Absentia to 14 Years in Prison
A court in Russia has sentenced US mercenary Mark William Ellerbroek, who fought for the Ukrainian military, to 14 years in prison in absentia, the Investigative Committee of Russia announced.
An investigation found Ellerbroek guilty of participating as a mercenary in the conflict, where he joined the Ukrainian armed forces in 2022 and fought against Russian forces until 2023. He was sentenced to imprisonment in a maximum-security penal colony and is now on an international wanted list.
