Local authorities in Taiwan are investigating a private club in Taichung following a controversial dinner event where sashimi was served on a naked young woman, dubbed a “sushi boat.” The dinner, known as a “nyotaimori dinner,” featured female models as serving platters for sushi and sashimi.

The opulent feast cost NT$100,000 per person, including a NT$60,000 meal and a NT$40,000 model fee. Guests dined off the model’s body with little recollection of the food consumed.

The event sparked online criticism, leading authorities to investigate potential violations of public decency laws. Nyotaimori, originating in Japan, has faced controversy for objectifying women but continues to be popular in certain circles.

Despite criticisms, nyotaimori persists in some events, like the S2O Taiwan Songkran Music Festival, where the practice was banned by the Chinese government in 2005 due to health and moral concerns.
