In a recent development, North Korea launched a missile near its capital, Pyongyang, prompting condemnation from South Korea, the United States, and Japan. The missile reached an altitude of 100 km and traveled more than 200 km, raising concerns over regional peace and stability.

Joint exercises between South Korean and US air forces, involving F-22 and F-35 stealth fighters, were conducted as part of their annual Buddy Squadron training. Additionally, South Korea’s marine corps held firing drills near the maritime border with North Korea.

US Indo-Pacific Command condemned the launch, urging Pyongyang to refrain from further destabilizing acts. The event comes after North Korea criticized the deployment of a US aircraft carrier to joint drills and warned of increased deterrence capabilities.

Kim Jong Un’s recent summit with Russian President Putin and their mutual defense pact drew criticism from Seoul, Washington, and Tokyo. Amid escalating tensions, North Korea held a rally commemorating the 74th anniversary of the start of the Korean War.
