The Government of South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands, GSGSSI, has announced fee increases for the upcoming austral summer season starting from July 1st, 2024. These adjustments, aimed at protecting the unique environment of the islands, will assist in ensuring their preservation and sustainability.

Customs fees and harbor charges have been detailed, with variations based on vessel classification and length of stay. Additionally, visitor fees have been outlined for different durations of visits, along with specific fees for marriages held on the islands.

The announcement comes amidst global maritime developments, with Emmanuele Grimaldi’s re-election as chairman of the International Chamber of Shipping and ongoing efforts to address industry challenges such as decarbonization, seafarer safety, and geopolitical conflicts affecting maritime trade.

For full details on the fee increases and charges, refer to the SGSSI Gazette No 3 dated June 18, 2024, or visit the official website for more information.
