Canada Sanctions Israeli Individuals, Entities Over Settler Violence
In a move to address extremist settler violence in the West Bank, Global Affairs Canada (GAC) announced new sanctions on seven individuals and five entities related to Israel.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau deemed such violence as unacceptable, endangering peace prospects and the two-state solution.
In May, Canada imposed initial sanctions on four Israelis over settler violence. GAC highlighted the tangible impact of these attacks, forcing the displacement of Palestinian communities and compromising security for both Israelis and Palestinians.
These measures align with a global effort to curb violence and promote stability in the region. Maintaining pressure on those involved in extremist activities is seen crucial in fostering peace.
