Azerbaijani FM, Georgian PM discuss strategic cooperation expansion

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov recently met with Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze during his official visit to Georgia. The meeting focused on various strategic issues such as politics, economics, energy, and transportation. Both parties highlighted the significance of projects like the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway in promoting regional development and stability.

Minister Bayramov also discussed Azerbaijan’s upcoming chairmanship at the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) and explored potential cooperation between Azerbaijan and Georgia in this regard.

Additionally, the two countries exchanged views on expanding collaboration in multiple crucial areas. Azerbaijan will host COP29 in November, with expectations of receiving a large number of international guests.

The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, established in 1992, aims to prevent harmful interference with the climate system. COP events, overseeing the Convention’s implementation, occur annually with the first COP held in Berlin in 1995.
