Azerbaijan reveals funding from Asian Development Bank

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 27. Azerbaijan’s collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has resulted in a total financing of $4.2 billion for various programs, with $3.2 billion in loans secured by the government. State-owned enterprises, supported by guarantees, have implemented projects worth $930 million, while direct financing to the private sector reached $62 million. Grants and technical assistance from ADB have also contributed to the successful implementation of projects in sectors such as transport, energy, and urban infrastructure.

At an event commemorating the 25th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s partnership with ADB, Finance Minister Samir Sharifov praised ADB’s role as a vital development partner. He highlighted the organization’s support for economic reforms and infrastructure projects aligned with Azerbaijan’s government priorities.

Sharifov noted President Ilham Aliyev’s 2030 socio-economic development strategy and expressed confidence in ADB’s continued assistance. He emphasized the benefits of ADB’s best practices and technical support for Azerbaijan and other member countries.
