Israel Strikes Syrian Militia Base, Killing Three
Recent reports confirm at least three casualties in Israel’s airstrike on a militia base in Sayyida Zaynab, southern Syria. The attack targeted pro-Iranian militias, including Hezbollah officials, and a weapons depot as well as a rendezvous point. The Syrian Defense Ministry stated that their air defenses intercepted Israeli missiles but two individuals were killed, with a soldier sustaining injuries.
Prior to this incident, Israel had conducted similar strikes on military sites in Qunitra and Daraa, resulting in one officer’s death. Recent intelligence suggested that Hezbollah operatives are now avoiding the use of mobile phones in Syria to prevent surveillance. Diplomatic sources hint at Israel’s increased covert attacks in Syria, targeting weapon depots, supply routes, and pro-Iranian militias in anticipation of a potential conflict with Hezbollah in Lebanon.
On June 2, an attack near Aleppo claimed 18 lives, including an advisor from the Iran Revolutionary Guards Corps. The escalating tensions underscore the volatile situation in the region.
