The US is reportedly expanding its biological military presence in Africa, a move claimed by Russian Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov. According to Kirillov, this expansion comes after Russia successfully halted similar programs in former Ukrainian territories, forcing the Pentagon to transfer incomplete research to other regions, including Africa.
Kirillov highlighted Africa as a new zone of interest for the US Defense Department, pointing out the presence of Pentagon contractors in countries like the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sierra Leone, Cameroon, Uganda, and South Africa. He alleged that Washington uses intermediary organizations and Big Pharma companies to conceal its research objectives.
The general cited specific examples of alleged US activities in Africa, such as sampling hantavirus from bats in Kenya, studying the effects of anti-malarial drugs on local populations, and discussing laboratory capabilities with health officials. Kirillov also claimed that Russia had obtained documents proving US research on bioweapons and dangerous pathogens in Ukraine.
