US Warns Israel of Limited Capabilities in War with Hezbollah

The United States has reportedly cautioned Israel about its limited ability to defend itself in an open war with Hezbollah, according to the Financial Times. US officials highlighted the heavily armed nature of Hezbollah, describing it as one of the most well-equipped non-state actors globally.

Both Israel and Hezbollah have expressed their mutual desire to avoid a full-scale war, as per diplomats cited in the report. Another potential conflict between the two parties could result in catastrophic consequences, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu facing significant challenges.

Israeli military officials estimate Hezbollah to possess around 200,000 rockets, drones, missiles, and other advanced weaponry. The US further warned that a clash with Hezbollah could escalate into a regional conflict, emphasizing the importance of diplomacy to prevent further escalation.

Israeli Security Minister Yoav Gallant’s recent visit to the US amid tensions with Hezbollah signifies concerns about a potential ammunition shortage crisis. Discussions around preparedness for all scenarios were highlighted during the talks between Gallant and US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.
