Recent discussions at the United Nations Security Council have highlighted the escalating conflict in the West Bank, with calls for Israel to immediately cease all settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territory. During a meeting on the Middle East situation, US envoy Linda Thomas-Greenfield emphasized the urgency of addressing the violence in the West Bank, condemning attacks on Palestinian civilians by settlers.

Concerns were raised regarding the increasing number of Palestinians killed in the West Bank, prompting the US administration to sanction extremist settlers and organizations involved in violent acts. The UK, France, Slovenia, and Algeria also reiterated their calls for Israel to halt settlement construction and abide by international law to facilitate peace in the region.

The situation in Gaza remains dire, with Israeli forces recently targeting Palestinian homes and escalating tensions. The need for immediate action to address the humanitarian crisis and prevent further violence in the West Bank was emphasized by the international community.
