Turkish security forces have successfully “neutralized” seven terrorists belonging to PKK/YPG in northern Iraq and Syria, the National Defense Ministry announced. Four terrorists were eliminated in the Operation Euphrates Shield zone in northern Syria, while three were targeted in the Operation Claw-Lock zone in northern Iraq.

Additionally, a suspected member of the far-left terrorist group Marxist-Leninist Communist Party (MLKP) was apprehended in a restricted military zone in Edirne province while attempting to flee to Greece. Another PKK member trying to escape to Greece was also captured in the same region.

The PKK, a designated terrorist organization by Türkiye, the US, and the EU, has carried out terror attacks for nearly 40 years, resulting in over 40,000 deaths, including women and children. The YPG is the PKK’s Syrian branch.

In a swift and decisive operation, Turkish security forces have dealt a major blow to terrorist activities in the region, ensuring the safety and security of the local population. The successful neutralization of seven terrorists demonstrates Türkiye’s unwavering commitment to combating terrorism and maintaining stability in the region.
