Montenegro received a positive assessment on the fulfillment of temporary benchmarks for chapters 23 and 24 at the intergovernmental conference with the European Union in Brussels. The European debtors announced that Montenegro has made significant progress and is ready for the final phase of EU accession.
European Commissioner for Enlargement, Oliver Varhelji, emphasized the importance of enlargement and praised Montenegro’s efforts. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belgium also recognized Montenegro’s achievements and highlighted the country’s path towards full integration into the EU.
Prime Minister Milojko Spajić expressed gratitude for the trust placed in Montenegro and pledged commitment to the EU integration process. He addressed the multi-ethnic and multi-confessional nature of Montenegro, emphasizing the importance of passing resolutions to address critical issues.
Spajić also affirmed Montenegro’s commitment to condemning past crimes and moving forward with a renewed sense of optimism and energy. The country’s progress towards EU membership marks a significant milestone in its journey.
