Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan proposed to Azerbaijan the creation of a joint investigation mechanism to address reports of ceasefire violations by the Armenian Armed Forces. However, Azerbaijan has not responded to this proposal, according to Armen Grigoryan, the Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia.
Despite regular reports from the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan regarding alleged ceasefire violations by Armenia, the MoD of Armenia denies these claims. Grigoryan emphasized the importance of establishing a joint investigation mechanism to ensure reliable information for both sides and the international community.
Grigoryan clarified that this proposed mechanism would complement, rather than conflict with, the current EU monitoring mission in Armenia. He expressed confidence that Azerbaijan’s cooperation in setting up this mechanism would demonstrate a genuine interest in uncovering the truth.
Prime Minister Pashinyan initially presented this proposal at a meeting in Kapan city and formally submitted it through diplomatic channels. As tensions persist between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the establishment of a joint investigation mechanism could be a crucial step towards ensuring transparency and resolving disputes.
