Muscat – Majlis A’Shura is taking significant steps to address unemployment in Oman. The committee for jobseekers presented new recommendations during a recent session, highlighting the challenges faced by over 100,000 jobseekers in the country.

The majority of jobseekers, comprising of 45,000 men and 62,000 women, hold a General Education Diploma or higher qualifications but lack work experience. With only a 4% increase in Omanis employed in the private sector in 2023, efforts are needed to improve job opportunities for locals.

Established in 2023, the committee aims to monitor jobseekers’ progress, analyze their skills in relation to market demands, and propose solutions to improve employment in Oman. Majlis A’Shura has also referred important draft laws to the State Council, showing their commitment to enhancing the country’s legislative framework.
