Hong Kong’s John Lee Calls for Investigation into Airport Flight Display Failure

Hong Kong’s Chief Executive, John Lee Ka-chiu, has called for a thorough investigation into the recent flight information display system failure at the airport, emphasizing the need to maintain the city’s status as an international aviation hub. The system breakdown led to chaos on Sunday, with airport staff resorting to manually writing departure information on whiteboards, causing some passengers to miss their flights.

Following the incident, Lee urged the Airport Authority to review their contingency plans and enhance their system’s capacity to prevent future disruptions. The government has asked for a comprehensive review of the system and its backup, emphasizing the importance of providing stable services to passengers.

In addition to addressing the airport incident, Lee pledged to follow up with energy firm CLP Power after a voltage dip on the same day, highlighting the need for the supplier to improve its capacity to withstand inclement weather. The government has requested CLP Power to identify the causes of the voltage dip and submit improvement plans.
