The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has taken a bold step towards environmental sustainability by approving a ban on single-use plastics in all government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). Minister of State for Environment, Iziaq Salako, highlighted the detrimental effects of plastic pollution in Nigeria, emphasizing its role in flooding, ocean pollution, and adverse impacts on human health and the environment. The ban is part of the administration’s efforts to promote responsible plastic waste management through reduction, reuse, and recycling.
With President Bola Tinubu presiding over the Council meeting, the unanimous approval of the ban marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s environmental conservation efforts.
