CIA Veteran: US and British Intel Agencies Likely Behind Dagestan and Sevastopol Attacks
Sputnik International
Former CIA officer Larry Johnson believes that Western intelligence agencies could be behind the recent spate of terror attacks in Dagestan and Sevastopol. On June 23, coordinated shootings in Dagestan resulted in the deaths of 20 people, while a Ukrainian missile strike on Sevastopol left four dead and 153 injured.
Johnson, a retired intelligence officer, suspects CIA and MI6 involvement in these attacks as a way to incite unrest in Russia. The Russian Investigative Committee has launched a probe into the Dagestan attacks, linking them to terrorism and illegal possession of firearms.
The goal of these attacks, according to Johnson, is to weaken President Putin and the Russian state. However, he believes that such actions will only solidify Russia’s unity and determination to combat external threats.
