Escalation in West Bank Arrests and Egyptian Rejection of Israeli Presence at Rafah Crossing
On June 24, 2024, the number of arrests in the West Bank rose to 9,360 detainees, as announced by the Prisoners’ Affairs Authority. Egypt stood firm in rejecting any operation of the Rafah crossing in the presence of the Israeli occupation, according to a high-level source.
In a move to facilitate aid access, Egypt coordinated with the United Nations to allow aid trucks to enter Gaza Strip through the Karem Abu Salem crossing temporarily. This was done while the Rafah crossing remains inactive.
Over the past three weeks, 2,272 aid trucks were allowed to pass into Gaza through this temporary arrangement. The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza reported three massacres by Israeli forces resulting in 101 deaths and 169 injuries in the last 24 hours.
The death toll from the Israeli aggression since October 7th reached 37,551 martyrs and 85,911 injuries as the aggression continues for the 260th day in Gaza.
