The Democratic Alliance (DA) is pushing for 11 Cabinet positions, their deputies, and directors-general in departments they gain control of, as well as a review of all tenders since the election. This request was outlined in a letter from DA federal executive chairperson Helen Zille to ANC secretary-general Fikile Mbalula.
These negotiations have stalled discussions on forming a national government of unity (GNU), leading to a meeting between President Cyril Ramaphosa and DA leader John Steenhuisen in an attempt to break the impasse.
