PM says wealthy must support education

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urges affluent individuals to contribute to education stipends to support more students. She made the call during the inauguration of a stipend and tuition fee distribution program for insolvent meritorious students under the Prime Minister’s Education Assistance Trust. Hasina also announced a Tk 20 million donation to the fund from the Bangabandhu Memorial Trust and emphasized the government’s commitment to assisting meritorious students nationwide.

Over 6.47 million students from secondary, higher secondary, graduation, and equivalent levels will benefit from a total of Tk 22.08 billion in stipends. Hasina highlighted the government’s efforts to modernize the curriculum, introduce a grading system, and create a joyful learning environment to align with global standards.

Furthermore, Hasina awarded the Bangabandhu Creative Talent Search Award-2024 to 15 students and the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Scholar Award, 2023 to 21 students, providing financial support and recognition for their achievements.

The government’s vision is to cultivate an education system where students pursue their interests with enthusiasm, fostering a culture of self-motivated learning.
