Over 11K Bangladeshis return after Hajj

This year, 11,640 Bangladeshis have returned from Saudi Arabia after completing the Hajj pilgrimage on 30 return flights operated by three airlines. In total, over 85,000 Bangladeshis traveled to Saudi Arabia for the Hajj on 218 flights.

The flights began on May 9 and ended on Jun 12. Biman Bangladesh Airlines transported 40,963 passengers, Saudia Airlines transported 30,076 passengers, and Flynas Airlines transported 14,186 passengers. The Hajj ceremony concluded on Jun 15, with Eid-ul-Azha celebrated on Jun 16.

44 Bangladeshis passed away during the Hajj pilgrimage this year, with their bodies buried in Saudi Arabia as per Hajj laws. The families of the deceased are not required to bear any funeral costs, as all expenses are covered by the Saudi government.

Religious Affairs Minister Faridul Haque Khan and Secretary A Hamid Zamadder visited Makkah for an inspection of the Hajj management. Additionally, 61 Hajj agencies in Bangladesh have faced penalties for irregularities in their operations.
