NUJ calls on Tinubu to address minimum wage problem

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has called on President Bola Tinubu to address the ongoing issues surrounding the minimum wage of Nigerian workers. Additionally, the union emphasized the importance of resolving the pending matters with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) before it escalates into a crisis. NUJ President, Chris Isiguzo, highlighted that the approved N62,000 minimum wage is not reflective of the current economic situation in Nigeria.

During their quarterly meeting in Ibadan, the NUJ issued a communique expressing concerns about the security of journalists, especially with the upcoming governorship elections in Edo and Ondo States. The union warned against further attacks on its members by security agents and politicians nationwide.

Furthermore, the NUJ addressed the rising insecurity and cost of living in the country, urging the government to take immediate measures to alleviate the hardships faced by Nigerians. Additionally, the union called for the restoration of electricity supply in states affected by the vandalization of power installations. NUJ emphasized the need for the nation’s security officials to address the escalating security challenges across different regions.\
