Bengaluru’s Namma Metro Phase 3 has crossed a major hurdle as the union government’s Public Investment Board (PIB) has approved its Detailed Project Report (DPR). The approval paves the way for the expansion of the metro network in the city.
The upcoming Phase 3 will span 44.65 km and will introduce two new lines, one from JP Nagar 4th Phase to Kempapura and the other from Hosahalli to Kadabagere. These lines will cover key areas like the Outer Ring Road and Magadi Road.
The first corridor will comprise 31 stations while the second will have nine stations. BMRCL officials have confirmed that the pre-construction activities have already commenced, including utility shifting and land acquisition.
The Hosahalli-Kadabagere line will operate three-coach trains, as per the union government’s directive. However, the stations on this line are equipped with platforms that can accommodate six-coach trains if needed.
With the PIB approval in place, the project now awaits the union cabinet’s green signal. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting metro expansion project in Bengaluru.
