In a shocking turn of events, three US officials, including two military personnel, have resigned in protest against Washington’s support for Israeli military operations in Gaza. Larry Hebert and Juan Bettancourt cited their unwillingness to continue serving due to the US military’s involvement in the conflict. This follows Andrew Miller’s resignation, a senior State Department official who spoke out against the Biden administration’s policies during the Gaza conflict.

The heartbreaking death of six-year-old Hind Rajab in Gaza prompted Hebert to seek conscientious objector status, while Bettancourt was moved by the devastation and civilian casualties in the region. Both officials described Israel’s actions as “genocide” and condemned the US government’s role in supplying weapons and diplomatic support.

The resignations reflect a growing dissent within the US government, with approximately a dozen officials stepping down. The issue gained international attention when Airman Aaron Bushnell set himself on fire in protest, highlighting the controversy surrounding America’s foreign policy in the region.

The Biden administration has yet to respond to these resignations, raising questions about its stance on Israeli military actions. The internal opposition underscores the deep divisions within the government regarding foreign policy decisions.\
