President Salva Kiir Makes Mini Cabinet Reshuffle in South Sudan
In a recent move, South Sudan President Salva Kiir has implemented a mini reshuffle in the coalition government, resulting in the removal of the Northern Bahr el Ghazal State Governor and the National Minister of Trade and Industry.
Through a presidential decree issued on Monday night, Governor Tong Akeen Ngor was ousted and replaced by Uber Ajonga Mawut in Northern Bahr el Ghazal State. Additionally, National Minister of Trade and Industry William Anyuon Kuol was relieved of his duties and replaced by Ambassador Joseph Moum Majak, who previously served as the South Sudanese ambassador to Egypt.
The changes, made by President Kiir without specified reasons, were carried out in accordance with the powers granted to him by the Constitution and provisions of the 2018 peace agreement. However, Minister Kuol had recently faced scrutiny from Parliament over issues related to the impounding of South Sudanese fish in Uganda.
These developments highlight the dynamic political landscape in South Sudan and the ongoing efforts to ensure effective governance and accountability within the government.
