BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has been shifted from the Coronary Care Unit at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka to a cabin, according to her personal physician Dr. Zahid Hossain. The decision was made after a meeting with her medical team and she is now under close observation in the cabin with all necessary facilities.

Khaleda underwent a successful implant of a ‘permanent pacemaker’ in her heart on Monday. The decision was made after her medical team, including specialists from the US and Australia, reviewed her reports. This comes after Khaleda had previously experienced heart issues with three blocks and the installation of a ring, leading to the decision to implant the pacemaker.

Despite her numerous health complications including diabetes, arthritis, and various heart issues, Khaleda was rushed to Evercare Hospital on Friday due to deteriorating health. The 79-year-old former prime minister has been hospitalized multiple times before and was granted temporary release from jail in 2018 for medical treatment at home.

Her family has sought permission for her to seek treatment abroad, but the government has so far refused, citing the conditions of her release.
