Netanyahu Announces End of Intense Fighting in Gaza
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently stated that the “intense” fighting in the southern Gaza city of Rafah is nearing its completion after more than eight months of conflict.
During an interview with Israel’s Channel 14 network, Netanyahu indicated that the most severe phase of the battle against Hamas is coming to a close, specifically in Rafah, though he did not provide a specific timeline for the end of the war.
As tensions escalate in the region, with Lebanese Hezbollah engaging in cross-border clashes with Israeli forces, Netanyahu emphasized that military control will continue in Gaza for the foreseeable future. He also expressed the desire to establish a civilian administration, potentially with local Palestinians, to oversee humanitarian efforts and civil affairs in the area.
Despite ongoing discussions about potential post-war scenarios, the need for a ceasefire is critical as civilian casualties mount on both sides. Calls for an end to the conflict are growing louder, but the path to peace remains uncertain as the region grapples with the devastating impacts of the war.
