Hong Kong rescuers search for missing solo hiker along trails in eastern New Territories

Emergency responders are searching for a 56-year-old man who went missing while hiking alone in Hong Kong’s eastern New Territories. His wife reported him missing after he failed to return home from a trek in Sai Kung.

Authorities, including police, the Fire Services Department, and the Civil Aid Service, have launched a search operation in the area. The Government Flying Service has also deployed a helicopter to assist in the search near Clear Water Bay Peninsula.

The man’s family has shared missing person posts online, providing details of his last known whereabouts and the attire he was wearing. He was last seen along the Lung Ha Wan Country Trail and Tai Leng Tung Viewing Point in Clear Water Bay Country Park.

Despite sending photos and updates during his hike, the man has not been heard from since 11am on Sunday. Search efforts are ongoing to locate him and ensure his safe return.
