Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is set to hold a press conference on Tuesday to discuss the outcomes of her recent state visit to India. The press conference will take place at her official Ganabhaban residence at 11am, as confirmed by assistant press secretary MM Imrul Kayes.
During her two-day visit to New Delhi, Hasina and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi signed seven new Memorandums of Understanding and renewed three others to strengthen bilateral ties. Talks also included India’s interest in railway transit through Bangladesh to connect its northeast region with the rest of the country, with trial runs expected to begin next month.
Additionally, India has expressed willingness to participate in Bangladesh’s Teesta mega project, with the Bangladeshi government seeking concessional loans from China for the initiative. This press conference follows Hasina’s pattern of addressing the media after foreign visits to provide insights on economic and political matters, with her last briefing held on her trip to Thailand on May 2.
