Georgia is set to establish direct flights with UK airlines, as announced by Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili during a meeting with UK Ambassador Mark Clayton. Emphasizing cooperation in tourism and civil aviation, Kvrivishvili highlighted plans for negotiations to launch direct flights to the UK. Optimistic about the outcome, she mentioned the growth of the Georgian aviation market, particularly with European destinations. The Georgian government also plans to run an active marketing campaign in the UK to attract tourists to the country’s attractions.

The meeting, attended by CEO of the Georgian Airports Union Irakli Karkashadze, discussed the significant rise in passenger numbers with Georgian airports serving over 1.4 million passengers in the first quarter of 2024, a 35% increase from the same period in 2023. This surge reflects the booming tourism industry in Georgia.
