Baku to host University Impact Forum on combating climate change

University Impact Forum to Address Climate Change in Baku

The University Impact Forum, supported by the Ministry of Science and Education of Azerbaijan and ASOIU, will take place in Baku on September 11–12. The event, organized by “Times Higher Education” (THE), aims to highlight the role of universities in combating climate change, especially as Azerbaijan prepares to host COP29.

The forum will bring together university leaders, policymakers, and industry experts to discuss the impact of climate change on people’s lives, focusing on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Participants will explore how universities can contribute to accelerated climate action through research, student engagement, and collaboration with stakeholders.

With COP29 set to be held in Azerbaijan this November, the forum will play a crucial role in promoting climate action. The COP, established in 1992, is the highest legislative body overseeing the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, with 198 countries as parties to the agreement.
