Antisemitism group urges Biden to fire White House official for anti-Israel tweets

An antisemitism watchdog group is urging the Biden administration to dismiss a recently promoted White House official due to his anti-Israel social media posts. Tyler Cherry, the associate communications director at the White House, has a history of anti-Israel and anti-police commentary on social media, prompting calls for his resignation. StopAntisemitism founder Liora Rez described the situation as alarming and urged swift action from the administration.

Cherry, who spent three years at the Department of Interior, deleted nearly 2,500 posts after facing backlash for his past tweets. Despite the controversy, the White House defended Cherry, stating they are proud to have him on their team.

Rez highlighted the pattern of appointing officials with anti-Israel sentiments, citing previous instances like Maher Bitar, who holds a prominent position in the National Security Council. This trend has raised concerns about the administration’s stance on Israel-related issues.

As debates around Israel’s security continue, it is crucial to address the influence of anti-Israel rhetoric in government positions. The watchdog group’s efforts aim to ensure accountability and promote constructive dialogue on sensitive matters like Israeli-Palestinian relations.
