A tragic incident occurred in Fryazino, Moscow Oblast, as a nine-story building caught fire resulting in the loss of at least eight lives. The fire engulfed the administrative building of the Platan Research Institute, where electronic devices are manufactured. Moscow Oblast Governor Andrey Vorobyov confirmed the blaze, which started around 3:30 p.m., was extinguished by 10 p.m., causing structural damage to the building.
Ruselectronics, a state-owned company specializing in electronic components, clarified that the privatized building has no ties to the defense industry. Authorities suspect an electrical malfunction as the possible cause of the fire, while search and rescue operations are still ongoing.
