More Than 17,000 Children Orphaned in Gaza Since the Beginning of Israel’s War
The Government Media Office in Gaza reported that over 17,000 children have been orphaned in the Palestinian territory since the start of Israel’s genocidal war eight months ago. Shockingly, 3 percent of these children have lost both parents.
According to Save the Children, up to 21,000 Palestinian children are estimated to be missing in the ongoing conflict. This number includes 17,000 unaccompanied children and approximately 4,000 who are likely buried under rubble. Some children have been forcibly disappeared or transferred out of Gaza.
Jeremy Stoner, Save the Children’s regional director for the Middle East, emphasized the urgent need for a ceasefire to support the missing children and prevent further devastation. The Israeli offensive, which has resulted in the deaths of over 37,598 Palestinians and injured 86,032 others, is causing mental harm and starvation among Gaza’s children.
