President Bola Tinubu cracks down on ghost workers in the civil service who draw salaries while living abroad. At an award night for the 2024 Civil Service Week, Tinubu directed that such employees must refund the money they fraudulently collected. He also called for punishment of supervisors and department heads who aided this fraud.
Represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, Tinubu emphasized the need for accountability and restitution in the civil service sector. He assured that appropriate measures will be taken to ensure those responsible are punished and the money refunded.
In addition, the event honored outstanding civil servants with top prizes such as a Brand New 2023 JAC JS4 Luxury Model SUV and a 2 Bedroom semi-detached bungalow. The Nigeria Customs Service also donated six Toyota Camry Cars to support the Civil Service Week.
Tinubu’s strong stance against corruption in the civil service sector underscores his commitment to improving efficiency and service delivery for national growth. The government remains dedicated to addressing challenges and supporting the welfare and development of all civil servants.\
