Mumbai: The upcoming Vidhan Sabha elections in Maharashtra will see complex seat-sharing negotiations between the BJP-led Maha Yuti (NDA) and Congress-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (I.N.D.I.A.). The political landscape has evolved significantly, making the process challenging. Senior leaders and MLAs are expected to switch sides, prolonging the seat-sharing discussions. Veteran political commentator Prakash Akolkar noted that the alliances have expanded from two major parties each to three, adding to the complexity.
In previous elections, alliances like the undivided Shiv Sena-BJP and Congress-NCP worked together. However, recent developments, such as Eknath Shinde’s rebellion against Uddhav Thackeray and Ajit Pawar’s split from Sharad Pawar, have reshaped the political scenario. The Lok Sabha polls in 2024 reflected this dynamic shift, with NDA securing 17 seats and MVA winning 30, including support from a Congress rebel.
