Thousands of Israelis gathered in Tel Aviv to demand a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of hostages held by Hamas. This protest, said to be the largest anti-government demonstration since the start of the Gaza war, saw clashes with police as protesters blocked the city’s main highway.
Weekly rallies have been drawing crowds calling for not only a ceasefire but also new elections. Among the protesters were relatives of the hostages still held in Gaza, where over 1,200 people were killed in an attack by Hamas and its allies on southern Israel.
According to Gaza health authorities, the Israeli offensive has claimed over 37,400 lives. The situation remains tense as both sides continue to grapple with the aftermath of the conflict.
