Israeli soldiers use injured Palestinian as ‘human shield’ tied to jeep

The recent incident in the occupied West Bank has sparked outrage as footage of an injured Palestinian being tied to an Israeli military vehicle circulated online. The Palestinian man, Mujahid Azmi, was reportedly shot and later restrained on the hood of the vehicle by Israeli forces during a raid in Wadi Burqin.

While the Israeli army acknowledged the incident and promised an investigation, eyewitnesses described the forces as aggressive and trigger happy, with two young men shot and wounded in a separate incident. The Palestine Red Crescent Society reported that emergency crews were initially blocked from accessing the raided area.

Accusations of using Palestinians as human shields have been made against Israeli forces in the past, with Defense for Children International Palestine highlighting three incidents where Palestinian children were allegedly forced to walk in front of army vehicles during raids in Tulkarm.

The escalating violence in the West Bank, exacerbated by the recent war in Gaza and increased settlements, has led to the deaths of hundreds of Palestinians. The situation remains tense as both sides grapple with the ongoing conflict.
