Iran indicts US officials for Gen. Soleimani assassination

Iran has taken a bold step by issuing an indictment against US government and military officials for the 2020 assassination of revered anti-terror commander, Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani. Judiciary chief for Tehran province, Ali Alghasi-Mehr, revealed that a public trial for the defendants is set to take place within the next month.

The 164-page indictment, comprising over 12,000 pages of evidence, has been lodged against 73 American officials and forwarded to Tehran Criminal Court number 1. The accused individuals, notified officially, are required to appoint legal representatives as the case progresses.

In addition to Soleimani’s assassination, Iran has pursued legal action against the US government for various crimes committed against its citizens. This includes a case involving patients with the rare disease of epidermolysis bullosa (EB) and compensation for victims of a 2018 terrorist attack in Ahvaz, orchestrated by a US-backed group.

These legal proceedings signify Iran’s resolute stance in seeking justice for its martyrs and citizens affected by US actions, demonstrating the country’s commitment to holding accountable those responsible for egregious acts.
