Breaking News: Pakistan’s Sugar Export Plan Unveiled

The federal government has announced a strategic procedure for the export of 150,000 tonnes of sugar, a move aimed at stabilizing the domestic market. The sugar export quota will be distributed among provinces based on their crushing capacity, with Punjab receiving 61%, Sindh 32%, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 7%. Notably, Balochistan has been excluded from the export quota.

Under the plan, the cane commissioners will oversee the distribution of the export quota, with no subsidies provided by the federal or provincial governments. The State Bank of Pakistan will report on the export progress to the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) after 15 days.

This decision comes after the ECC’s approval of a conditional export of 150,000 tonnes of sugar to prevent market price hikes. If prices surge, the export permission will be revoked. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
