The Karnataka State Police Organises “Datathon” to Enhance Law Enforcement With Technology
The Karnataka State Police (KSP) recently conducted a unique event called “Datathon” aimed at leveraging technology to solve various challenges faced by the police department. The KSP’s computer wing is taking proactive steps to incorporate advanced technology and data analytics in their operations to improve public safety and operational efficiency.
“Datathon” brought together professionals, tech developers, startups, and students to brainstorm innovative solutions to issues like predictive data analytics, traffic management, police performance optimization, data privacy, and AI-based accident analysis. Over 11,000 entries and 890 ideas were submitted, leading to the formation of teams and the selection of five winning projects.
The technologies developed during the event will be integrated into the KSP’s operations, thanks to collaborations with Microsoft and the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT). Key figures involved in the event include Pronab Mohanty, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Computer Wing, and Laxman Nimbargi, Superintendent of Police, State Crime Record Bureau.
