Gunmen on motorbikes attacked Maidabino village in Nigeria, killing seven and kidnapping 100 in the latest violent incident in the northwestern Katsina state.
Residents and police confirmed the deadly attack, with State police spokesperson Abubakar Aliyu Sadiq stating that investigations are ongoing. Muhammad Sani expressed fear for loved ones abducted during the raid, highlighting the uncertainty faced by the community.
The gunmen arrived in Maidabino village, shooting indiscriminately and causing residents to flee in terror, according to eyewitness accounts. The violent perpetrators, who blocked roads before the assault, proceeded to destroy property, burn vehicles, and abduct women and children.
Such attacks have become prevalent in Nigeria’s northwest and central regions, where armed groups target villagers and travelers for ransom. The recent incident follows previous abductions in different states, including the kidnapping of school children in Kaduna and Kebbi.
