Recently, Yemen’s authorities disclosed shocking confessions from a spy team involved in conducting hostile activities against various Yemeni economic institutions. The espionage mission targeted key entities such as banks, the planning and budget ministry, as well as the ministries of economy, energy, transport, and mines.
One of the agents revealed that their objective was to establish a network within ministries and economic institutions to gather sensitive information. The US had instructed them to focus on oil, gas, and mining sectors in Yemen to facilitate American company entry into the country. This involved connecting businessmen with the US embassy and promoting trade deals to increase American exports to Yemen.
The captured spy network, affiliated with the CIA and the Israeli regime, had been operating under the guise of international organizations since the closure of the US embassy in Yemen in 2015. The Yemeni government denounced their activities as longstanding espionage in the country.
This revelation sheds light on the intricate web of international espionage and the underlying motives driving such clandestine operations. The repercussions of these actions on Yemen’s sovereignty and economic stability remain to be seen.
